Update

We are back in full swing following COVID lockdowns and such! We are meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House - at 1:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to join us, you don't have to be donating your work to come along and enjoy a chat and free coffee and cake with us. At this stage, all of our donations have found a home, which is really good to know. We love the fact that we create warm items and they are given to locals within our own area of East Gippsland. Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House does an excellent job of distrubiting our items where they are needed the most. This year, again we will focus on Indigenous items - blankets, beanies, gloves - as well as all our usual donations. There is always a great need for beanies, gloves, scarves, cowls, and blankets, especially larger blankets. Not only in indigenous colors, but any colors! As many as we can create, they are placed! Every single donation of knitted items is deeply appreciated and gratefully accepted. It is a sad and scary thing to be homeless - with no place to feel safe at the end of each day. Some of the women have children, sleeping rough in their cars, or whereever they can find shelter. Our warm items do not make their situation go away, but it does let them know that here we have beautiful women who create with love, the many items we are able to give to them. We tell them by our work that someone cares. It is the point of hand made items, whether knitted or crocheted. We very much appreciate the support from Karen, at Stitches N Things, Lakes Entrance, and Gayle, the co-ordinator of Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House. Without this ongoing support we would not be able to provide the volume of items we currently can. If you would like to be a donor and knit some items for charity, we are very happy to welcome you aboard our happy little crew! We do, from time to time, have suitable yarns donated for us to use, but mostly it is at our own cost. We can supply patterns for items required for charity, but as a general rule, we do not supply needles or yarn. If you would like further information, please drop us a note, we are more than happy to answer your questions.
