We are always very grateful for any donations of yarn for us to create items for donation. We prefer Acrylics as much of our work goes to homeless or disadvantaged people who do not have the facilities to hand wash woolen items.
We can use any clean acrylic yarn (or blends that are machine washable) even scraps of your previous projects. We use scraps to make blankets like this one:
Knitted corner to corner the end size for this one made from scraps, was 2m x 1.6m - a really good size for someone sleeping rough as it can wrap right around them.
Any yarns that are donated are used exclusively to create items for donation to local charity via Neighbourhood House, here in Lakes Entrance, or Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House. Anything left over is sent on to Melbourne to KOGO who distribute nationally and beyond.
Donated yarn is never wasted and your generosity is very much appreciated, not only by those of us who knit and crochet items, but by the many who benefit from our work. We love that we are able to create and donate to our local towns,
